An Italian design company has come up with a luxury UFO-style capsule that is a combination of a bedroom and a motorboat. The so-called "Pearlsuite", designed with hotels and resorts in mind, has an en-suite bedroom and a kitchenette with wine cooler topped with a retractable roof.
It also has a small motor and an autopilot function, allowing guests to fly the pod between set points at speeds up to 6 miles per hour using their smartphones. The capsule is not designed for high seas adventures, but will be able to sail around bays and along coastlines for up to six hours at a time.
Each module "equipped with the best technology features" will cost £230,000.
The suite is 22 feet (7 m) in diameter and is surrounded by 3.2 feet (1 m) wide outside decks for guest relaxation. Inside there are up to 236 sq. Feet (22 sqm) of space to relax.
The concept is the brainchild of designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini of the design studio Lazzarini on behalf of the Italian water transport company Jet Capsule.
