Safe AI Use at Work is designed for everyday professionals who use, or may soon use, Generative AI as part of their jobs. You do not need to be a programmer, data scientist, cybersecurity specialist, or AI engineer.
The objective is simple:help you gain the productivity benefits of AI without creating unnecessary risk for yourself, your colleagues, your customers, or your organization.
The course begins by explaining AI and Generative AI in clear business language. You will understand what these technologies can do, where their limitations are, and why AI should be treated as an assistant rather than an unquestioned authority.
You will then learn how to classify workplace AI activities according to their risk. Brainstorming a generic presentation is very different from allowing AI to influence hiring, financial, legal, health, security, or employee decisions. Understanding this difference helps you determine when simple review is sufficient and when stronger approval, governance, or specialist involvement is required.
A major part of the course focuses onprivacy, confidentiality, and data protection. You will learn what information should never be casually entered into AI tools, including personal information, employee records, customer data, credentials, API keys, contracts, internal strategies, source code, financial records, incident information, and other sensitive material.
You will also explore why simply removing a person's name may not make information anonymous and how metadata, context, unique attributes, or combinations of details may still identify individuals or organizations.
The course then develops practical prompting skills. You will learn how to create clear workplace prompts using context, tasks, audience, format, tone, and constraints while minimizing the amount of sensitive information shared with the AI system.
But good prompting does not remove the need for verification.
AI systems can generate inaccurate facts, invented references, incorrect calculations, misleading summaries, insecure code, and recommendations that appear professional even when they are wrong. You will learn practical techniques for validating AI-generated information before relying on it or sharing it with other people.
The course also addressesbias, fairness, and human oversight. This becomes particularly important when AI is used in recruitment, employee evaluation, customer decisions, finance, healthcare, legal work, or other activities that can materially affect people.
You will learn why human review must be meaningful rather than a simple approval click, and why accountability ultimately remains with the people and organizations using AI.
Security receives dedicated attention throughout the course.
You will also learn why visual or audio clues alone are not enough to validate suspicious communications and how trusted, independent verification channels can help prevent AI-enabled social engineering attacks.
Intellectual property and copyright are also explored from a practical workplace perspective. You will learn why AI-generated content should not automatically be assumed to be copyright-free, owned by the user, non-infringing, or safe for unrestricted commercial use.
